ENERGY MANAGEMENT APP
Tesco Fanz is an energy saving report application developed for Tesco (UK), enabling store managers and facilities teams to monitor, log, and report on energy consumption across retail locations. The app replaces manual spreadsheet processes with a streamlined mobile interface built for daily field use.
The key challenge was designing an offline-capable data entry flow that could sync reliably across hundreds of store locations with varying connectivity. We implemented a local-first architecture using React Native with background sync via Firebase, ensuring no data loss even in low-signal environments. Role-based access controls were layered in to restrict reporting to authorised personnel only.
The app was successfully deployed across Tesco locations, cutting energy report submission time by over 60%. Store managers moved from a 30-minute manual process to a 5-minute mobile workflow. Real-time dashboards gave regional managers visibility across all locations, directly supporting Tesco’s sustainability reporting targets.
